• Just starting a new website using WordPress and stumbling at the first hurdle. It won’t let me save any changes I make to the site. It says ‘Looks like something’s gone wrong. Wait a couple seconds, and then try again.’ every time and won’t save anything at all.

I have no active plugins, just an inactive ‘Akismet Anti-Spam’. I’m using the default theme 2017 (I tried another but the same thing was happening)

Can anyone help me with this at all? I’ve spent two nights now googling for an answer but can’t find one.

    Thanks!

  • Funny story. I started building a WordPress site today on a domain hosted by Site5 and ran into the same problem. Talked to tech support and they could not do anything and have opened a ticket. If there was any resolution for you, I’d love to hear it. But consider the bug in the original post repeated and confirmed.

I tried all sorts – but the last thing I did was change it to a multisite on the WordPress set up. (I think I did this by going through Softalicious on Site5) I can’t say for sure if this was the thing that made it work but it’s saving now.

I’d tried to set a site up before via my site5 and WP so I’m left with it’s…’residue’.

Let me know if you need more info and I’ll go back in to it and take some screenshots.

Same problem here. Brand new empty WP site, latest WP, no plugins, running 2017 theme. Saving customizations gives this same error. I have a dozen other WP sites running latest WP, no problem. Host is ASmallOrange, they couldn’t be less helpful if they tried.

    Any ideas?

@clwill, if you need support then per the forum welcome please create your own new forum post. Thanks.

Hi @clwill. Just a heads up, I am on ASmallOrange as well and I was able to get them to resolve the issue. They won’t provide me the rules that they put in place for security reasons, but I can tell you what I told them to get things working.

I copied the full url that was having an error from my console and provided it to them. Mine looks like this: http://<domain>/wp-admin/load-scripts.php?c=1&load%5B%5D=jquery-core,jquery-migrate,underscore,wp-a11y,wp-util,jquery-ui-core,jquery-ui-widget,jquery-ui-mouse,jquery-ui-sortable,jquery-&load%5B%5D=ui-draggable,jquery-ui-droppable,backbone,wp-backbone,shortcode,utils,media-models,moxiejs,plupload,wp-plupload&ver=4.9.4

The other detail that I provided to them (this is my second chat) was that it was a POST request.

After sharing those two things, they were able to resolve the issue.

I wish I could provide you more info, but I hope you have similar luck.

Thank you for this. It has worked on and off since then. Their support is useless, they — with each and every interchange — begin back at the beginning and restart my conversation.

This is the last straw for me and ASO. I’m moving to AWS.

I also am on Site5 and have the Wordpres installation through Softaculous.

And I also get the message: ‘Looks like something’s gone wrong. Wait a couple seconds, and then try again.’

It happens when a change is made to a menu (add item) and I attempt to publish it.

The previous suggestion to reinstall WordPress using Softaculous and set it as multisite has no impact.

Note that the site I am installing is onE of severAL addon domainS I have with site5.

so this is clearly an issue with wordpress itself. Default installations with no plugins should not fail and should not require deep server level changes.

    I have the same issue.

Will WordPress be issuing a patch to fix this or should I just find different blog software?
