# site went down – parse error

 * I was away on business in NYC for a week. When I left, my site was working fine.
   Yesterday I checked the site and found it down, showing this when you go to [http://touchedbymadness.net](http://touchedbymadness.net):
 * “Parse error: parse error, unexpected $ in /home/content/s/l/w/slwillets/html/
   wp-load.php on line 46”
 * I get the same screen when I try to log into my admin account.
 * I haven’t made any changes to the site and haven’t played around with the code,
   so I have no idea what happened or how to fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 * I ended up deleting out nearly everything and reinstalling WordPress 2.7. That
   seems to have fixed the issue.
