Site went blank during update to Version 150311

    Last night our webmaster was updating our WordPress plugins. S2member was the last one he did.

    Before updating the the for S2member Pro addon, he opened the website’s URL. The content was gone. It was not visible in the HTML code either. All he saw were the theme colors (We have Infocus theme.)

    After updating S2member Pro, the site’s content was visible again.

    Was that supposed to happen?

    Not sure if it makes a difference, but we still have inFocus 3.3 (curent version is 3.7).

    If you update the core s2Member plugin but, although you have the Pro plugin installed, you do not update it too, then yes, you may get some unexpected behavior because the Pro add-on will be deactivated until updated.

    Thanks for your quick reply, KTS915.

    But I don’t understand this… if the Pro add-on is deactivated, wouldn’t my website function as if it weren’t there? How would an inactive plugin prevent my site content from loading?

    People who don’t have the Pro add-on supposedly wouldn’t see their content disappear when updating the S2member plugin.

    @pwallin,

    How exactly it all appears will depend on several things. One will be whether you have any caching on your site. Another will depend on your host’s setup. Who are you hosting with?

    I don’t know them, so I can’t comment. But you might just check in future to see how fast any other changes you make to your site get implemented.
