A site visitor is reporting the error below, I haven’t been able to reproduce the error despite testing on various browsers and devices. How can I fix this for them?

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /…/public html/wp-content/plugins/wordfence/vendor/wordfence/wf-waf/src/lib/rules.php on line 769

  • Hi @bandora

30 seconds is the default value for max_execution_time in php.ini file, you can increase it to 90 for example following this guide then let this user recheck that issue.

You might need to reach out to your hosting provider to find the suitable way for them to increase that value, as not all the hosts allow doing that in .htaccess file.

Thanks. Any idea why only this visitor would have this error? I tested various devices, my client and her staff tested too and they didn’t have any issues.

    Hi @bandora

It depends on what was this user trying to do while he got this message (uploading a file for example?), if you can get that information, it will explain a lot.
