 * Can somebody send me detailed instructions, where in my WordPress site do I place
   the verification file, that I get from my Pinterest settings page, to verify 
   my WordPress website listed on my Pinterest site. This is .html short file given
   by Pinterest.
 * Thank you for any help on this.

 * You should upload it (ftp/sftp) to same folder where you have the wp-admin/wp-
   content/wp-includes folders.
 * If you installed WP in a sub-directory, e.g. your domain.com/blog pinterest, 
   unfortunately, you will not be able to verify.

   just recommend to use a plugin rather than mess around with core directories?

   I thought he may want to learn how to do it manually.
 * I, personally, think that “mess around with the core directories” is a little
   bit an overstatement for the specific task 🙂

 * Oh gosh no. That’s not good advice at all.
 * Don’t do that as you’ll almost certainly break your installation that way. When
   you modify or add files to that directory you risk your whole installation.
 * Either use a plugin or do something with a custom child theme. Personally I think
   a plugin would be best because it’s easier to support.
