Do you mean specifically the site title or do you mean the “site-branding” area which covers the logo and description as well?

Try adding this to “Customizer – Additional CSS” …
.site-branding {
background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.5);
}
… changing the values to whatever you require. This website should help with that if you require.
Let us know if it works and we will look into adding an option to cover this with a slider.
