• So after a year I was finally able to upgrade the other day to the second to (at the time) the newest version 3.03, then it said there was a newer version again. I tried to upgrade i and it said it failed, and now my site says Be right back, scheduled maintenance.. and I cant view my site nor get into wordpress.. any ideas with out having to do a complete reinstall of the server database

    ok just finished, but still is failed… any new tips on the upgrade.. or are others having this issue too..

    Yeah, I’m having the same issue. I just finished a new install of 3.0.3, and the next day here comes 3.0.4. I did a Fantastico auto install, so I suspect the file permissions would not allow the upgrade. I’m going to try the manual update procedure via ftp.

    Found this simple solution to get out of maintenance mode :

    “…if you are unable to load WordPress because it’s stuck in Maintenance mode, just FTP into the root directory and delete the .maintenance file…”

    yeah tried that:
    Downloading update from http://wordpress.org/wordpress-3.0.4.zip…

    Unpacking the update…

    Could not create directory.: /public_html

    Installation Failed
