The self-hosted blog site at http://littlewolfstudios.com/ was working fine and without any issues for over a year. Out of nowhere, we’ve come up against this error:
Warning: Unknown: failed to open stream: Permission denied in Unknown on line 0
Fatal error: Unknown: Failed opening required ‘/home/caileena/public_html/littlewolfstudios.com/index.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in Unknown on line 0
I updated the installation from 3.6 (I think) to 3.9.1 as a first step.
Based on research here and across the internet, I changed permissions to the first level of files and folders based on: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/what-are-correct-file-permissions?replies=3
(Sub-directories were not changed.) This resulted in new errors, each more obscure than the last. Most recently I returned all permissions to the settings they had the last time the site was up and running. The error returned to the one noted above.
We’re using WP to run a hobby / crafting-business site. Most recent updates to the site were made about 3 weeks ago (adding photos). A week ago we were notified that the site is down, and we can no longer access the admin panel. Their big sales gig of the year starts on Wed, so we’re in a bit of a crunch to figure this out.
Any suggestions?
