Support » Plugin: W3 Total Cache » Site slowed down after last update

  • I have been using W3 Total for a long time, without any kind of trouble, but after the last update (, my site performance is horrible. The server is pretty slow the only different thing I did, was upgrade the W3 Total Cache.

Till yeastarday I would never suspect that the plugin was causing the trouble, but I asked my hosting for support and they told me this:

“could see that as the cache files are a lot in the directory “/home/hiper/public_html/wp-content/cache”, the php processes are using more CPU to search through these heaps of cache files and re-build them. You have to clear these cache files to decrease the load.”

I already trying to re-install the plugin, empty all the cache files, but the trouble persists.

Anyone with same problem ? Any light ???

    Thank you for the support.

  • I’m having sever performance issues with latest version.

    I’m unable to deactivate.

You have to google “how to unistall w3 total cache” (Yes, you have to do some tricks to remove this poison)

There’s a chance that W3 Total Cache ruined my htacess too, and generating a lot of false 404.

W3 TC didn’t messed up anything in my htaccess. if this cna help. But you should definitely do a backup before running a “big” plugin like this one just in case. Or ask your host to put your website to what it was a few hours earlier 🙂

I just deleted W3 earlier tonight. (Monday) I’ve been having major trouble since the last update.

    Very slow.

Plus it may have been reacting with WP Touch (which I’ve currently deactivated) I would have sessions where it would only come up in mobile mode on my desktop.

Things seem to be working great now.

    I have exact same problem.

WP Touch in Chrome displayed the site in Mobile Theme.

Plus several messages from Google Webmaster that pages are not reachable.

I deleted w3tc and installed WP Super Cache.
