My site at http://rainmaking.com, which uses the Thesis theme, is running nightmarishly slow. It takes minutes for me to commit changes in Dashboard or to load new pages on the site once I've clicked a link.
I've used the Plugin Performance Profiler and determined that the heaviest load on the site is W3 Total Cache, but it doesn't seem to run much quicker when I have it disabled. I have the same plugins (and more) on another site that is also on GoDaddy shared hosting and is running just fine. After shutting off all plugins, the site still runs awfully slowly, which suggests to me that if they are exacerbating anything, they are only doing so mildly.
I've optimized and repaired my MySQL database (using WP DB Manager). I'm currently going through and harmonizing my code to XHTML 1.0 Strict as recommended by Lorelle. She also said I had too many stylesheets and that they were too big. Suggestions for handling this (merging)?
Can anyone help me figure out what the problem is or offer any recommendations re: best practices that will help me avoid the mess I'm in now?
