# Site Optimization

 * I have a website that is having some issues with site speed. According to GTMetrix
   it scores a 33% for PageSpeed and 76% for YSlow. Google’s PageSpeed Insights 
   gives it a 14 for mobile and 36 for desktop.
 * The site is hosted on WPEngine.
 * I installed Autoptimize and enabled the various settings. I then installed Smush
   and manually smushed every file in Media. The above results are after doing this.
 * I’m at a loss as to what else to try. I also don’t understand why the above sites
   still say my images are not optimized, despite having smushed them. I called 
   WPEngine support and they had no real ideas and suggested I reach out here.

   want to try a different solution?

 * Well, you could try image optimization in Autoptimize (which uses the Shortpixel
   image optimizatoin CDN), but I’m biased because I’m AO’s developer 🙂

 * Hi there,
 * You may want to reach back out to WP Engine and have the support agent check 
   the autoloaded data as well as seeing if the agent can use NewRelic to help troubleshoot
   the sluggishness. It also wouldn’t hurt to have WP Engine enable admin-ajax logging
   to see how often that is being triggered.
 * It’s also possible there may be a noisy neighbor using excessive resources.
 * These key areas should definitely help with performance on WP Engine.

   my concern was potential conflicts with my existing CDN.

 * kentymac; if I’m not mistaking the images are put on Shortpixel CDN before the
   WP Engine CDN sees them, so they are left alone by the latter.
