    Hi All,

Ok, I have a really big issue and could use some help. I created a site for my wife with wordpress. From one day to another, the site stopped working with only this error:

Premature output is preventing Memphis Documents Library from working properly. Outpust has started in on line 0.

I can’t access WP-admin any more either. I work in IT myself and am familiar with the fact that these things usually only break when you do something, but I haven’t even logged into the wp-admin! I just broke.

I’m hosting with GoDaddy, I could run the updates but no solution. Anybody here have an idea? I think it’s to do with the Memphis plugin, but I don’t know how to deactivate it if I can’t access the admin tool.

Anyway, thanks for any help whatsoever!

Oh, and if it helps, the site can be found at http://www.jalsa.nl

Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

    Hi matthew,

thanks for the quick reply. Ok, I deactivated the plugins through MyPhpadmin, but no help. I then renamed the theme-name, which at least shows me some content (no formatting) on the homepage, but no wp-admin. Is there anything else I can try?

Do you have a backup of your website from before this happened? You could always restore that.

If not, try downloading WordPress again and delete then replace your copies of everything except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings. Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.

Also check your .htaccess and if needed reset that to default.

    Matthew,

thank you so much! I ended up replacing the WP contents and had to re-install the theme, but it’s up and running again. You’re a real life saver. I thought I was doomed, but you really saved the day.

    Thank you once again!!

Awesome! Glad we were able to solve the issue.

In the future I would recommend using a backup plugin or service to run some regular site backups. This way if it were to ever happen again you could just restore a backup.
