My site displays correctly in an XAMPP testing environment but does not display properly once uploaded to server.

I have been building my site from scratch since that is half the fun for me. I have been using Dreamweaver and an XAMPP testing server to ensure that my site is as I want it. In the XAMPP server my site shows properly; header followed by a full width image, featured post area, a “micro post” area (really just a special category display), then three post areas across the screen limited to certain categories. Everything seemed to be working well enough and I uploaded it to my hosted site at

The site shows up in wp-admin and activates without error, though it does not show a preview like the twenty ten theme does. The entire site has been coded more or less from scratch and copied code (especially the home page) so it is likely that I am missing some piece of critical code to make the whole thing work. The home page seems to be the source of error with nothing but the header and default wordpress footer showing. other pages and posts seem to work (except for forgetting to change some background colors from black).

Looking into it a bit more (sorry I’m getting ideas as I write this post) it appears that the home page does not get code.

    The site is:

    A working page:

What could be causing this error.

I have solved this problem while writing this post and am posting everything in the interest of helping anyone else with the same symptoms.

It appears that wordpress install on my live server is more case sensitive than that on my testing server. I had incorrectly titled my home page Home.php (note the uppercase) rather than home.php. The reason my content wasn’t displaying was that wordpress was referencing my “gutted” index.php file. I think I’m gonna go change that now.
