Site not ranking in Top Stories and 0 Traffic from Discover

    Earlier I have talked personally regarding this issue with Alberto Medina and James Osborne in GFWP Delhi India, they suggested me to post here about this problem and their concerned team will look into this.

    So, the problem is that my website named https://omnitos.com does not rank in Top Stories nor in Google Discover Feed. I have tried everything even contacted Google News Support, posted in many webmaster forums but got no solution or fix.

    Even for the main keyword, it may be on the top in web feed and news feed but not in top stories!

    1 year back it used to rank on Discover though but never ranked in Top Stories. And now after using the amp, it ranks in none of both. Here are the things we have done so far:

    1. We have google news approval for a year for now and follow its criteria and daily practices. We post first, and faster than others, still we do not get placed in top stories. I have checked Preview results in the Structured Data Testing Tool and there is no error and the preview is perfect.
    2. Sitemap and robots.txt are friendly
    3. We use Schema Markup, NewsArticle to be specific
    4. We used Amp original plugin with Newspaper integration, transitional mode
    5. There is no error or any action on the site in the search console, all errors are paid respect and fixed simultaneously
    6. All main pagespeed optimizations are present and we use CDN- Cloudflare, so IP is not an issue.
    7. Content is unique.
    8. We get traffic from Social too.
    9. The page is mobile-friendly
    10. The page is eligible for google rich results
    11. Https, http/2, HSTS, Tls 1.3 Followed for best practices.
    12. The website is 3.5+ years old and with good authority
    13. Canonical URLs declared and links optimized and broken links decreased to the minimum
    14. General Organic rankings are good.
    15. Disavowed bad unrelated backlinks.
    16. Google lighthouse optimizations present with a good score!
    17. No pending DMCA’S or links removed from Google
    18. Caching on the site is present and minimizations also were done.
    For any other error on the site or any optimization please help us!

    Humm. We don’t have any special insights into Google Search or Discover. What you did to post on the webmaster forums seems like the best approach.

    Make sure you have a topic open at Search Console Help.

    Yeah have posted many times in those search console and webmaster forums, most of the guides there don’t know what’s the actual issue is and give blatant replies that all depends on the algorithm, while google news support says that this doesn’t fall in their jurisdiction, will try again to post there in SC AND WMC forums.

    While Twitter WMC Account doesn’t reply, I have tried, maybe I didn’t get a chance, will try tweeting them again. This can only be solved if any employee or great experienced guide take a look on my issue.

    @omnitos To rank high for Top Stories or Discover there are a number of factors to consider. You are already using AMP and taking care of your structured data, which is great. I can see your AMP results in search also.

    While we are not product experts and can’t advice on specifically on algorithms or search I would advice you to checkout this recent article in relation to tips for Google news, and also this ways to succeed official guide.
