# Site not loading

 * My blog at managingleadership.com/blog is not loading. The problem began a few
   days ago with very slow loading, especially to the admin pages and while trying
   to publish posts. Now the blog doesn’t open up at all, even to the index page–
   just timeout messages.
 * The blog is using 2.7.1, and I’ve tried to get in to it on Vista w/Firefox and
   IE, and on XP w/Firefox and IE – same story.
 * My Google and Sitemeter statistics seem to be indicating that this problem is
   widespread.
 * I haven’t been able to get the blog to open up for several hours, much lest publish
   today’s post.
 * Does anyone know what could be happening?

 * Usually it is one or more plugins that can cause this.
    If you can’t get to your
   site – ftp to site and temporarily rename the plugins folder. See if your site
   comes up then. If so, rename plugins folder back and activate plugins one by 
   one – testing with each.

 * Great idea about using ftp to shut off the plugins and get in to the site. Will
   be doing this in the next few days and letting you know how it turns out.

 * I tried the experiement with the plugins, with no effect, unfortunately. Meanwhile,
   my hosting service examined the issue, and here is what they said:
 * “one of the files in your blog folder was getting fairly heavily trafficked by
   what appeared to be automated web crawlers. When we renamed this file, wp-comments-
   post.php, as a test, within a few minutes your blog was resolving properly again.
   After verifying that the large volume of traffic on that file from web crawlers
   was causing the issue, we did rename it back to its original name.”
 * Any suggestions on how I can resolve that?

 * One more thing: the tech from my hosting service also said, “it is possible that
   the number of visitors
    to your site is overwhelming the number of mySQL connections
   available for your account. You can minimize the impact of these account limitations
   by specifically closing the mySQL connection in your PHP code so that those resources
   are freed for further page views.”
 * Does this suggest any fixes?

 * Since being told that my wp-comments-post.php file was under attack, absorbing
   so many resources as to prevent the site from loading, I installed the “wp-spamfree”
   and “bad behavior” plugins hoping they would relieve the problem. They have not.
 * And now, in addition to the connection/loading problem, on those rare times when
   I am able to get into and use the admin page, I get this at the top of it when
   I save a draft:

 * As it stands, this connection error problem has driven my stats into the ground,
   and is forcing me to abandon the blog. Hopefully, this forum – which appears 
   to be my only remaining resource – will help produce a solution.

 * Im having the same problem at we-are-awesome.com/blog
    Was using it perfectly
   yesterday, but now blog isnt loading properly and i cant log into WordPress.
 * I updated to the latest version yesterday and it was working perfectly.
 * I tried to rename the plugins folder, but that had no effect. The blog is new
   and not even launched, so it isnt getting many hits either.
