Hi, I’m having a problem and I’m not sure if this is the right place to post it, but here we go.

It’s not the right place but that’s OK. I’ve move it and adjusted the title. Don’t ask for moderators that way, OK?

    Nice drawings. 😉

ERROR: This user account has been locked until May 5, 2016 1:41 am due to too many failed login attempts. You can login again after the Lockout Time above has expired.

WordPress doesn’t come with anything like that built in so you must be using a plugin. I know you can’t login but do you have access to the file system on your web server?

If you do, in your wp-content/plugins directory should be the other directories of your plugins. Do you see the one that would limit the logins that way? Or if you can remember what it is can you share that here?

    Ok thanks.

Now I’m even more confused. I’ve always had to log in to be able to access my dashboard. I figured the lockout was just a security feature of that. I mean… would a screen shot help at all?

I don’t have access to my plugins directory, but I don’t have many active plugins anyway, and nothing I can think of that would do something like this. Mostly just basic stuff to allow a chat box, track traffic, etc.

It wouldn’t because that message is not coming from WordPress.

The reason I want to know the plugin (assuming it’s a plugin) is that if the directory was broken-plugin-name (just as an example) then the steps would be like so.

    1. Using FTP or whatever file management tools your host has provided you with navigate to the wp-content/plugins directory.
    2. Once there locate and delete the broken-plugin-name directory. Just that one directory and nothing else.
    3. Try and re-login to your WordPress dashboard.

But without knowing the plugin name then that’s not really a safe thing to do. Perhaps your host can get a list of the directories in wp-content/plugins for you. Having that information may help.

It was the security plugin. No idea how/why it started pitching a fit, but deleting it fixed the problem. Thank you!
