My site is working fine, however my backend won't load. I tried:

in chrome, but get: "This web page is not available" (Error code: ERR_CONNECTION_RESET)
Same in IE ("page cannot be displayed")

I am not aware of any changes made recently which could have caused this, seems out of the blue.

    What I've Tried:

    • Disabled themes and plugins, by renaming folders using FTP.
    • Updated WordPress to 3.7 manually (using FTP and deleting all files before uploading the new ones.)
    • Checked file permissions and see no obvious issues.

Prior to updating to 3.7 I was using 3.6.x? (next most recent version I think). Was using a twentythirteen child theme. Most recent plugin additions were WordFence and Updraft. Site PHP info here.

    Any help much appreciated!

That is a computer error not WordPress. A google will show lots of info like this, http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=269353

Are you sure? Have tested over multiple browsers, on 2 windows pc's and the iPad through multiple wireless and mobile internet connections and all show the same issue.

on the ipad, the error is:
"this page cannot be loaded via this proxy"

this issue is limited to the backend of my site only, no other sites have any issues on any other platform.

(I did try the fix in the above link though to no avail)

    Any ideas? Thanks.

Have you checked with your hosting company?

  5. http://www.work-wanders.com/ is loading sans CSS for me though that may be because you killed the themes folder.

    What's in your .htaccess?

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /index.php [L]

The link I posted was just an example of the 100's of links with possible fixes to your problem. Are you on a network/intranet?

Thanks for replies all, all fixed now!

Turns out my hosting provider has started blocking all wp login page requests from overseas so as to prevent brute-force attacks. They just failed to mention it, and I work overseas.

Was looking for an excuse to switch hosting providers anyway!
