 * I’m trying to make changes to a website, but can’t get the site to load those
changes. When I view the page source, it says it’s using “[http://retrovolve.com/wp-content/themes/Retrovolve/style.css?ver=1.0.3&#8221](http://retrovolve.com/wp-content/themes/Retrovolve/style.css?ver=1.0.3&#8221);.
How can I prevent it from loading that version of style.css and get it to load
   my updated version?

 * If you’re not using a Child Theme, and if the theme doesn’t have a designated
section of the dashboard for CSS modifications then install this Custom CSS Manager
   plugin [http://wordpress.org/plugins/custom-css-manager-plugin](http://wordpress.org/plugins/custom-css-manager-plugin)
 * Then use its “CSS Code” [section of the dashboard](http://wordpress.org/plugins/custom-css-manager-plugin/screenshot-1.jpg?r=704634)
   to hold your CSS modifications.
 * _Alternatively use your Child Theme style.css file to hold your CSS modifications._

 * ?ver=1.0.3 does not refer to a file name, it’s just something to stop the browser
   from caching the file

 * That plugin gets the site to load my changes, but it breaks the WordPress backend.
   Frustrating!
 * I am using a Child Theme. I should have mentioned that in the initial posts.
I created it with the Child Theme Wizard, and am editing it via the editor under
the appearance section of the WordPress dashboard.
 * The changes I’m making are showing up eventually, but it’s taking a long time
for them to show. This makes it impossible for me to tinker around with the theme
and to see what I need to fix.

 * If you’re sure you don’t have a caching plugin ask your hosting providers as
to whether they cache your site
