Thanks for reaching out and also for providing a video of your experience. As it looks like you already have a meta tag Search Console verification code on your site have you tried verifying site ownership at Search Console level before attempting to setup Site Kit? You can do so using the link below:
    https://search.google.com/u/1/search-console/settings?resource_id=https%3A%2F%2Fcorpusfitness.hu

Alternatively what you can try to do is remove the verification meta tag form your site and then attempt Site Kit setup once more, allowing the plugin to insert the meta tag verification.

Let me know how you get on with the checks above. While I can’t be sure why your manually inserted verification has failed at this point I will set some time aside to try and recreate this error in various scenarios. If you’ve manually added a site in search console the URL should match, including the https status. I don’t see any other obvious potential cases from the checks performed on your site, with no robots.txt issues or incorrect placements.

    Hi there @vitaio,

Have you since been able to setup the plugin using the above approach to verify your site? I ask as I’ve so far been unable to recreate the same error message you encounter during setup from various tests, which include a manual verification and switching the Google account associated with the property during Site Kit setup.

If the issue does remain please share any browser console errors on the screen whereby you see this error message, along with your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.

    Hi James,

I filled out the form for you and attached a video.

    Hi @vitaio,

Many thanks for sharing the additional insights, including the video. Very useful to see what’s occurring. As there are no console errors appearing can you remove the below from your website if you’re aware of how you’ve inserted this snippet:
    <meta name="google-site-verification" content="xypmPDeGM66SIXBi_NhNk*****">

After doing so you can attempt Site Kit setup once more.

Alternatively you can very ownership of your site within Search Console directly, before then attempting Site Kit setup. You can do so by visiting this link. You’ll be presented with various options on how to verify your site.

I’ll also perform some additional tests in order to recreate the same error you’re encountering. Please let me know how you get on with the above.

    Hi James,

How do I remove it? I tried to delete plugin and install again, but the problem persists.

Is it possible to “hard reset” Site Kit plugin?

    Thanks.

    Hi Vitaio,

How do I remove it? I tried to delete plugin and install again, but the problem persists.

If you’re referring to the non Site Kit placed meta tag as below I can’t be sure how this was added to your site. It’s possible it was manually inserted into your theme files. You can also check your Yoast configurations to see if you’ve applied a Search Console verification code within the plugin confligurations.

    <meta name="google-site-verification" content="xypmPDeGM66SIXBi_NhNk*****">

We can certainly reset your site however the issue seems to be with your site and Search Console verification. For that reason you can remove the the snippet above by determining how it was added.

Alternatively have you tried to verify your site independently of Site Kit? If you verify your site with Search Console before attempting Site Kit setup this should allow you to proceed. You can use this link.

Let me know of the above:

    1. Whether you’re able to determine the non Site Kit placed Search Console verification code
    2. Whether you attempted verifying your site with Search Console independently of Site Kit

    Hi James,

I recorded everything. I manage to activate it manually, but I think something is not working properly.

Many thanks for going to the effort of creating the screen recording. Very useful to see what’s occurring, and glad that you were able to finally setup the plugin with a manual verification.

While you’re successfully connected at present it would be great to determine what the cause was that resulted in the failed verification. So far from some internal testing I’ve been unable to encounter that same verification error. With that can you share the below:

    1. Can you confirm that the meta tag verification you had evident on your site was placed via Elementor (from previous attempts to setup Site Kit)?
    2. Are you a Google Workspace user (formerly G Suite)?

Let me know if you have any questions with the above, and happy holidays!

    1. This was the first time I activated this way. I have never placed this code anywhere before. I just tried Google Site Kit, but always got an error.

    2. Yes, I am a Google Workspace user.

    Thanks!

    Many thanks for the update.

    1. This was the first time I activated this way. I have never placed this code anywhere before. I just tried Google Site Kit, but always got an error.

There was an existing non Site Kit placed meta tag when you previously encountered this error, with the same verification ID (xypmPDeGM66SIXBi_NhNk*****) as per your video. If this wasn’t placed via Elementor let us know if you’re aware how this was placed. Not a problem if you’re unsure, we’ll perform some tests.

    2. Yes, I am a Google Workspace user.

In that case we’ll dedicate some time to testing out various Google Workspace configurations. Appreciate the update.

As you’re already connected I’ll close this support topic. Let me know if you run into the same error going forward on your site.

I’ll also keep you up to do with some internal testing should we be able to reproduce the same error and determine the specific cause.

Since this plugin has been in place, we’ve never inserted it with code, just so everything is set up that way.

The next time I found a similar error, I’ll record it and post it to this post. 🙂

    Hello
I started to get the same error on my sites and I’m having index problems on my previously installed sites, the main pages were removed in google scans, I’m getting the error in the picture in the crawling and live url test tools on other pages and this problem has been going on for 10 days.

@aliakdgn Thanks for sharing. If you’d like to open a support topic we’d be happy to work with you to ensure you can setup Site Kit, if not already done using a manual verification method. Within the support topic it would be great if you can confirm whether you’ve received any notification in relation to issues with indexing your site, which may have contributed to this notice.
