Hello @michaelgs thanks for getting in touch and sorry to hear you are facing this issue. I’d be happy to look into this for you. Please can you first try a Site Kit reset? After the reset, do you still encounter the same issues? If yes, then please can you share the following:
- Your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.
- What console errors can you see when the fatal error occurs?
- Does the same happen if you follow the troubleshooting steps here?
Let me know if you have any questions about the above information.
@michaelgs Thank you for sharing the Site Health Information. Could you please share a recording of your experience after performing the reset? It would be helpful to see what happens when you attempt to connect Analytics after the reset. You can use a service such as Loom to record and share the video URL here or via the private form above.
Could you also share who your hosting provider is?
I think this is what you are asking for.
Hosting is through a private server which is hosted by Liquidweb.

@michaelgs Thank you for sharing the video that is very helpful indeed! Could you please try the following steps and let me know if this makes any difference:
- Login to your live site from a Chrome browser incognito window.
- Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
- Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”. (This will temporarily deactivate other plugins and switch to a default theme – for you only, as a logged in user).
- In your Health Check plugin click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and then click on the “Enable” option for Site Kit.
- Try going to your website with just Site Kit active in troubleshooting mode and see if you encounter the same error.
- Enable other plugins one by one while rechecking your site each time until you encounter the error once more.
This will highlight if there is a plugin conflicting with Site Kit. If you still see the issue throughout the process then let me know and I can continue to look into this with you.
Today I could not duplicate the error, not during troubleshooting nor after on the normal admin site. I can’t explain this.
i do get this error on the site kit dashboard now:
Most popular products by pageviews Data loading failed
Retry
Retry didn’t work? Get help
what do I do to fix this?
@michaelgs Thank you for the update and it is unusual that the issue is no longer reproducible. With regards to the new issue, is this in the key metrics widget for the most popular products by pageviews? Did this work initially or have you seen this since first selecting that metric?
This metric checks for custom post types for products (excluding the homepage) and pulls the top three with highest traffic. The data source this is pulling from is Analytics and it requires the site to have a product post type.
Any further screenshots or recordings you have of this would be helpful along with any console errors you may see when this message displays.
As we didn’t receive a response I’ll mark this as resolved. Feel free to open a new support topic if you continue to encounter issues, or reopen this topic and we’d be happy to assist.
