Support » Fixing WordPress » Site is screwed up… help!!!!! Fatal error: Cannot redeclare register_sidebar()

  • I’m running the TripleK2 theme, and I keep getting an error on every page of the site about how there’s an issue on line 27 of sbm.php (inside the triplek2 theme). I checked there, and I’m no expert, but it looks fine. i can’t get to the website or the dashboard, I can only manipulate ftp files.

This started when I upgraded wordpress from an older version after being hacked.

I can provide more info, just ask! I tried deleting the files but it doesn’t work.

  • Probably not the solution, but see what happens if you change permission on the file. I’ve had similar error messages and once in a while changing permissions worked. I would also re-check the file just to make sure nothing malicious was added. Probably want to check it against the original copy of the theme, just in case.

WordPress 2.3 is not compatible with the Sidebar Modules code. If this theme includes it, then it is not compatible with WordPress 2.3 and up.

Find a compatible version of the theme. Probably a more up-to-date version of it.

thanks! It appears there is a newer version of triplek2.

However, in order to deactivate the old one and active the new one, won’t I need access to the wordpress dashboard? I don’t have access to it. Is there a way to activate and de-activate themes via ftp?

EDIT: oh wait, nevermind, i got it working by renaming the triplek2 folder and having it revert to the default theme. should’ve just done that originally, lol
The newest version still doesn’t work ,but I can handle lol
