Here’s my blog, I’ve been running it about 3 years. I can’t recall the version … think it’s 2.3 (the version in the source isn’t correct because I didn’t update the template & seem to have hardcoded the version number)

    http://www.naijajams.com/

When I visited, the home page was completely blank.

I tried wp-admin and got the login screen and the ol’ “your database is out of date, please update” (which doesn’t make any sense to me – what about it would be out of date?!) In any case, I clicked though, one click and I was done – went to the site and the entries seem completely hosed. They’re spitting out PHP code on the page?!

    Not feeling the vibe.

    Any thoughts?

    1. disable the markdown plugin. thats where the error is coming from, if you actually read it.

you havent posted on it since June. Have you bothered to check if your host upgraded from PHP4 to 5 since then? There’s a thought.

did you want a hacked blog? youre running a version that hackable with a simple copy and paste.

How about an upgrade — just a thought.

Thanks for the suggestions and the sarcasm. Deactivating the markdown plugin did it.

Sweet security there. I’ll be sure to upgrade after backing up.

updated to 2.6.2. That wasn’t too terrible. There was a time wordpress was updating versions every month – that was too much.

Well some good news as of WordCamp 2008 – the 2.7 update is pretty big sounding as far as changes and new options. The new dashboard sounds really cool and I’m very excited for both the upcoming media changes and the mini social hubs. If you don’t know what I’m talking about here’s an article about keynote speaker Matt Mullenweg and the plans for WordPress:

Oh, while this probably doesn’t help right now, there’s also the option of using SimpleScripts for all your wordpress management. They basically make it so you can install/upgrade/downgrade with one click. It’s pretty awesome – some hosts have this built in, but you might have to install it yourself.
