    Hello all

I have a new website that I am working on.

I’ve used the plugin “Under construction” to hide the site while working on it. But it seams I’ve hidden it too well.

Some people can see it (or rather my “under construction”-message) but some can’t. They only get message that the browser can’t find the server.

Unfortunately the people you can’t access the site are the people that are supposed to help me fill it with content.

We’ve waited 24h. We have tried several different computers and cleaned the cache (or rather the people that can’t see the website have). Some people can read it and some can’t.

Anyone that could give me a clue what is happning?

  • I can’t get to your server at all. Is the URL you posted accurate? I don’t mean that the server connection fails. I mean that my browser cannot find a server at that address at all.

This plugin, presumably the one you mean, claims to hide the site from anybody not logged in. I have to assume that your login form is not hidden or you’d eventually get permanently locked out. Can you or your contributors get to the login form directly by going straight to http://www.dinbokdrom.se/wp-login.php ?

    Thanks s_h_dum for you reply.

If I or 2-3 other people write http://www.dinbokdrom.se (exactly like that) in our webbrowser we get to a grey page with two lines of text in Swedish saying that the site is under construction.

When 2-3 other people try exacly the same thing, the do not end up at the grey page, they get a message that their browser can’t find the server.

I assume you ended up in the second category?

I don’t think the plugin has anything do to with this because this problem existed before I installed the plugin.

The people who do not see anything, it doesn’t matter if the try Chrome, Firefox, Safari or IE. They have tried http://www.dinbokdrom.se and http://www.dinbokdrom.se/wp-admin with the same result.

I assume you ended up in the second category?

    Exactly right.

    I would agree.

Something is odd with your DNS registration.

Google’s DNS servers can find your address, but Comcast’s can’t (Comcast is a very large high speed (cable) ISP in the US. I don’t know what their global reach is.). I really don’t know what would cause that, but I imagine that it isn’t restricted to Comcast’s DNS servers, as I am guessing that your “2-3 other people” who can’t get though are in Sweden, or at least are in Europe. It would be a significant coincidence it we all had the same ISP.

Your login page is at http://www.dinbokdrom.se/wp-login.php . Ordinarily http://www.dinbokdrom.se/wp-admin will redirect to wp-login.php more or less seamlessly but the plugin may be preventing that. Have your people go directly to the login page.

Edit: I changed my resolv.conf to use Google’s DNS servers and http://dinbokdrom.se/wp-login.php does bring up a login form. That doesn’t solve your DNS resolution issue though.

I got in touch with my web host and they changes something they call DNSSEC – that seams to have done the trick!
