    I’m having a strange problem with htaccess/permalinks:

I recently re-devloped a WP site. The old WP site was located in my server’s public folder and worked for a number of years, the new site (a complete re-install of WP) is currently located in a subdirectory and I’ve chosed to leave it there. I followed instructions in the Codex and in this article. I’ve used this method before to great success.

However, with this new site, I’m having problems with permalinks on child pages and posts. Parent pages display fine, but all links to children and blog posts give me 404 errors.

The strange thing is that the entire site worked when I originally updated permalinks in my htaccess file. That is, it worked, until I went into my admin and updated a WP Page. After I updated, the child pages and posts gave me 404s. This happened twice. I got it to work again, then I updated a different Page and it stopped working again.

Is something wrong with the database? Or is the location of my site in the subdirectory the problem? I’m at a loss for an explanation.
