Site Health shows MonsterInsights notices as CRITICAL. How to stop this?
-
Hello,
we are using MI, and whenever I visit the Site-Health-Page at /wp-admin/site-health.php, I see 2 MonsterInsights Notices on the top, under “Critical”. They are not at all critical, so I’d like to remove them. How can I do that?
Thanks!

Hi @gerdski,
Thanks for reaching out!
Out of curiosity, which which site health notices are you referring to? If you don’t mind sharing a screenshot or a text copy of the notices with us here, I’m happy to share more details.
Thank you!
As I said: /wp-admin/site-health.php. If I go to this URL I can see the message. Can’t you?
Maybe go to “Tools -> Site Health” in the admin section.MI says:
“Enable Google Analytics 4: Starting July 1, 2023, Google’s Universal Analytics (GA3) will not accept any new traffic or event data. Upgrade to Google Analytics 4 today to be prepared for the sunset.
Set Up Dual Tracking“and
“Please configure your Google Analytics settings:
Your traffic is not being tracked by MonsterInsights at the moment and you are losing data. Authenticate and get access to the reporting area and advanced tracking features.
Authenticate now“Hello,
you answered via PM “Messages that appears in the Site Health area are unique to the individual site. In this case, it’s detected that your site didn’t do the upgrade from Google Analytics V3 to v4. This can be resolved by clicking the authenticate button in the notice, which will then walk you through those steps and after that, the issue will be resolved, so the notices will automatically disappear.”
Maybe I was not precise enough in formulating my question.
We don’t want to follow the suggestions to upgrade from Google Analytics from 3 to 4, but rather to get rid of these messages in the Site Health area at all, because they are not critical.
HI @gerdski
Sorry for the confusion here! Please note, we will never respond via a private message. Our only official channels are via the WordPress public support forums (this forum), or via our website directly, https://www.monsterinsights.com/.
When it comes to the issue, you’ve got there. You will need to update your MonsterInsights and your Google Analytics properties as the older UA version has been deleted as of July 1st, 2024, after they were initially disabled July 1st, 2023 by the Google Analytics Team at Google.
Once you complete the set-up, MonsterInsights those messages will go away, and you’ll be able to use MonsterInsights Lite fully.
The steps on how to create that new property are below:

Thanks,

Well, I received a reply that didn’t show up in this support thread, so I thought that it was a private mail.
For the Issue:
> When it comes to the issue, you’ve got there. You will need to update your MonsterInsights and your Google Analytics properties as the older UA version has been deleted as of July 1st, 2024, after they were initially disabled July 1st, 2023 by the Google Analytics Team at Google.

Maybe it was still not clear enough, but we need to get rid of those messages WITHOUT updating MI or GA or anything else. Just stop the messages appearing, because they are NOT CRITICAL at all!Hi @gerdski,
We understand you would like the remove the messages however the notices serve a critical purpose. They are designed to appear only if the MonsterInsights plugin isn’t fully set up. Without proper authentication, our plugin’s core function cannot work as expected. In this case, the best way to stop the messages is as previously suggested, to complete the installation and configuration of MonsterInsights by connecting it with your Google Analytics property.
As for the “Enable Google Analytics 4” message specifically, I’ve opened an issue for our team to remove this message since it’s deprecated.
But both this message and the “Please configure your Google Analytics settings” message are only displaying because the Google Authentication options at Insights » Settings are not yet configured (which means no Google Analytics tracking is currently happening for your WordPress site). Here’s an example screenshot of how the page may look like: https://a.supportally.com/i/OICJz4.
If this is intentional, out of curiosity, is there a reason for having MonsterInsights installed if not using it for the Google Analytics tracking and reporting functionality?
Or if you’ve already clicked on Connect MonsterInsights, authentication has already been completed, and these messages are still appearing, then it sounds like something else may be going on. Our team would love to better understand the issue if you could reach out to us at https://www.monsterinsights.com/get-help/ so we can take a look at things directly to resolve it for you.
Thank you!

No, they don’t. “Critical” means e.g. that the site is running on an old and insecure PHP version, or displays errors or other information so that attackers can find ways to attack, or things that could create a WSOD. Your messages should never appear on the site health page!
So…can you not tell me how to get rid of these annoying things?
(No, we don’t want to configure our Google Analytics settings)Marking unresolved issues as resolved is not a good idea. I reopened the topic.
Hi @gerdski
The issues are listed under critical, as they specifically relate to the tracking and reporting capabilities of MonsterInsights. Essentially, a critical feature is not setup/working and therefore an error is produced. In this case, you’re not tracking/authenticated.
Other plugins use similar error output for functions and settings on the site health page, this is not just unique to MonsterInsights. They will not be removed.
Thank you,
