 * Hi:
    Am building a new site for a client who would like to stay with their existing
   webhost, but the host has never hosted a WP site before. They host on an Apache/
   Windows server. But they wanted to try it.
 * At first the site wouldn’t allow any changes from within the admin. They fixed
   this by installing a plugin: “Permalink Fix & Disable Canonical Redirects Pack”
   even though the first line of the description is: For WordPress installations
   residing on Concentric/XO Communications shared hosting platform **only** – and
   this installation has nothing to do with with Concentric/XO…
 * Anyway, that seemed to do the trick, except that when I access the server via
   FTP I see “Temp” pages piling up. Then, I found that I cannot delete plugins
   or photo albums from with the admin, and now I find I can’t do the automatic
   upgrade to WP 3.1.1. It just says “n automated WordPress update has failed to
   complete”.
 * The tech guy at the ISP has not been able to resolve these problems and I wondered
   if anyone here could steer me towards some documentation or other info. about
   these kinds of problems?
 * Thank You!!

 * I have never worked with this particular configuration before, but from the looks
   of it, it is a file permissions issue. On a Linux server, individual folders
   and sub-folders in the WordPress install will be given the appropriate permissions
   using CHMOD so that you are able to edit themes, or do automatic updates etc.
 * The equivalent on a Windows server is that your user account needs to be granted
   permission to those specific folders. That’s how I understand it anyway, your
   administrators should be able to shed more light on it.
 * This discussion might help learn some specifics to talk to them about:
