site displays “site admin” and “logout” link, even though I am logged out

  • I have encountered a strange problem.
    After I am successfully logged out, my site still shows the “logout” and the “site admin” links. If I click them, it leads me to the regular register resp. login interface.
    I am running a multiple user blog, so this is really annoying (it’s not a security issue since people might think they have admin access but the don’t).
    WP 1.5, tested with standard theme and my own.
    error occurs on firefox (win & mac), opera & safari (so far tested).

    <?php wp_register(); ?>
    <?php wp_loginout(); ?>

    This is kinda the opposite to the common login problems.

  • Are those links hardcoded into the template ?

    Here’s an excerpt of my sidebar script:

    <div class=”title”><?php _e(‘Community’); ?></div>

    • <?php wp_register(); ?>
    • <?php wp_loginout(); ?>

    Sorry but I am not familiar with the term “hardcoded”. The variables are not accessible by the means of alteration by user. I guess it is the standard configuration (I didn’t change a thing within the script). All other templates I tried came out the same.
    That’s all I know.
    Thanks for the reply.

    After logging out, try forcing a refresh in your browser. The browser may have cached the page for you.

    His site is showing Logout for me too, and since it’s not my site I’ve never logged in. 🙂 I clicked to logout and refreshed and it still shows Logout. Definitely something screwy.

    I’m having a simlar problem. Even when I am logged out or on a completely different computer, the options to add username, email etc do not show up in the comments section. It says I am logged in as ” .” and gives me the option to log out.

    Brilliant! That fixed my problem right up. (though WP Didnt’ seem to want to let me delete the user? o.O) But thanks to the magic of PHPMySQL, problem solved. Thanks a ton! 🙂

    Yeap. That solved my problem, too. Thank you so much, moshu and all you guys.

    FWI CyberWarlock: Set the user status back to 0 which will remove the user from the regular list and give you the chance to “promote” or “delete” it.
