# Site development – Best practice

 * Could someone tell me the most practical way to develop a new wp site. I’m a 
   bit new to wp/server backend best practices.
    I have rebuilt a html site in wp
   on a spare domain name, but I now have to change to the correct domain. the IP
   tag has been changed but I’m struggling to know the next step. Is there a better
   way to do it from the outset? Any advice would be much appreciated.

 * Thanks Prabhat, I did read this article earlier.
    So, when I start my next project,
   which will be to update and build (in WordPress) a client’s old html site, bring
   their existing domain to my preferred server, but keep their old site live until
   the new site is all approved. Could you advise what is the correct procedure?
   It’s simple if I’m using a new domain, but otherwise it’s proving somewhat tricky.
