  • It’s well known that editing theme’s “functions.php” for extending site functionality is not a very good practice. This plugin helps to avoid it, also sometimes you might create a snippet instead of a small plugin with it’s own files and etc. There are numerous similar plugins, but this one is hassle-free to me and interface is simple and beautiful.
Quick tip: if global variables don’t work in functions, then define constants.

  • This is quite good plugin for purpose, you have explained. But you must be aware of some fatal risks, when you use this plugin.

What risks, can you tell me please?

Thank you for the review @kutalia!

I believe that the risks @tapiohuuhaa is referring to is that because this plugin allows you to run code on your site, there is the danger that if you use malicious or broken code, it could have an effect on your site. It’s the same sort of risk that applies when adding code to your site through functions.php files, but it’s definitely something to be careful of.

    Primarily I mean these risks:

    1. Code Snippet doesn’t find function, which is already defined. Certain crash if function has been defined twice.
    2. Allows to use function, which is not available. Certain crach of the site.
    3. Can’t deactive code snippet, which has the same function definition as in another plugin. Sometimes deactivating of some plugin fails. I this case I must use phpMyAdmin in order to deactive a code snippet. This craches also the backend!

@tapiohuuhaa are you able to create a separate thread for those issues? Review sections aren’t a good place for discussion, and I’m finding it difficult to understand what you describe.
