    [topic decapped ]

My website (blognbasketball.com) crashed after I downloaded a Sports News plug-in that I added. When I clicked ACTIVATE plug-in, my site crashed and my WordPress log-in was deleted. I had to even re-register w/ Word Press just to access this forum. The plug-in was even 5 STARS.

Here’s the message you get when trying to connect to site: Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_get_current_user() in /home/content/99/6515499/html/wp-content/plugins/google-analytics-for-wordpress/googleanalytics.php on line 1498

Should I contact GoDaddy or are they not involved? Is the other FTP thru them??

    HELP & THANK YOU!

FTP is a way to access your site files on the server. See: http://codex.wordpress.org/FTP_Clients

Then you can use that to find and deactivate or delete that plugin from the plugins folder – see:

    Thanks Yogi.

I found the site you linked me to about FTP, but I’m still lost. I don’t see how I can access this. I don’t remember having an alternate file upload system, I simply downloaded WordPress (and upgraded) and paid GoDaddy every month to host. Are they involved here?

    Thanks

I went to the Disable Plug-in section, but it involves accessing my site through wp-admin. I can’t log-in…I had to register all over again. Thanks

    See this: http://support.godaddy.com/help/article/96/uploading-files-to-your-website-ftp

Ask GoDaddy any additional questions about accessing your files on the server.

What do you mean you had to register all over again? Where?

In order to access this forum, I had to re-register w/ WordPress. I used the same log-in as before, was that a bad idea?

Your login here is totally separate and unrelated to your site – so until you registered here, it would not be expected to work. Is that the case?

My understanding is that it’s the same log-in as I used for my site through WordPress, the one I “hope” will be re-activated at some point: Knez382. Just wondering if that makes it more complicated. I remember clicking “register”.

Yes, you do have to register to post here, but your site is not actually connected to these forums. It’s possible to use the same user name and password for your site and these forums – so it sounds like that’s what you did – but they are still separate and unrelated.

But that’s all really not part of solving your current issue with your site :).

Yogi, Just spoke to GoDaddy. They went in and deleted all my plug-ins, but I’m back up n running. I’ll take it.

    Thanks for all your help.

YAY! Cool…glad you’re back in business! Make sure you are making regular backups of your site “just in case”

postcript: they didn’t actually delete my plug-ins, just deactivated them. Much better.
