The site I’m working on has a very strange problem.

    • When any page is updated, the Front Page is updated with the same content.
    • Changing what page is set to the ‘Front Page’ seems not to matter. I duplicated the front page and pointed the static front page to the new page, but the problem persisted. (The old Front Page no longer updated improperly)
    • Digging deeper, when I make a change to any page, front page included, creates multiple revisions of the page, not just one (Usually 3?)
    • Installing the Activity Log plugin revealed the page is being constantly updated by both me, another administrator who I know is not currently updating it, and sometimes a blank-non user with the server IP, multiple times per minute. Here is what that output looks like: Screenshot Link – Notice that there are 800+ log entries but I only installed this plugin 4 hours ago, and nobody is working on the site currently.
    • I find no PHP errors, or anything in debug.log that helps illuminate the problem. I’ve disabled any new plugins we added (all are A+ plugins; WordFence, W3 Cache, Yoast). The problem seemed to happen after connecting WooCommerce subscriptions, but i don’t feel like that could be the cause.

      I’ve tried:

    • Disabling new plugins
    • Reinstalling WordPress
    • Changing the front page
    • Rebooting the server
    • Checking for wp-cron jobs that are bad with WP Crontrol

I’m trying to avoid downtime where possible, so I’m hoping someone might have a sense for what is going on.

I’ve never seen anything like this, any help is appreciated.

    Try:
    – deactivating ALL (yes all) plugins temporarily to see if this resolves the problem (plugin functions can interfere). If this works, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(s).
    – switching to the unedited default Theme (Twenty Seventeen.) for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

Ok, I think it is a combination of this them (Hestia free) with the SiteOrigins Widget Bundle. The constant updating in the activity log happens with Hestia active. The Widget Bundle was updated about 12 hours ago, right when an update was made available to the client.

None of it is ideal, but when *any* page is updated, whatever page that is set to the static front page has its content replaced with the page that was just updated.

It is confounding. Is there a way to ‘roll back’ one version of the widgets bundle plugin?

Edit: the site is Dogorado.net, not .com – that was a typo in the OP, sorry.

It turns out it is just the Site Origins page builder that is causing the trouble, not the widgets plugin. Attempting rollbacks and will report back, i found WP Rollback plugin that lets me try rolling back the version.

Thanks for pushing me to troubleshoot more thoroughly. The issue was Hestia Theme’s most recent update (1.1.51), and it interacted poorly with Page Builder by SiteOrigins, tested with 2 versions.

I have rolled back to Hestia Free v1.1.50 with WP Rollback and the problem has vanished.

    Phew!
