Support » Fixing WordPress » Site closes in IE

  • I have been trying to edit a Theme called PhoenixBlue as well as install plugins… and on Firefox or Safari everything works flawlessly. Although my friends using Windows Internet Explorer have all told me they get a fatal code error and must close the window containing my website. Can someone take a look who might know a bit better than I do as to what the problem is? I am very new to php and wordpress.

    My site:

    Any help is appreciated.

ive looked at your site locally, and I cant tell you for sure what the problem is.

You might want to take a look at this though:

you have serious structural problems going on .. for instance, your <head> tag is completely misplaced.

Fix the as many validation issues as you can, if that doesnt fix it, then disable the plugins that are inserting the javascript .

Thats the best I can suggest.

Thanks I will check that out right now. One thing I noticed while editing WordPress with Firefox on my Mac is that when I save… it saves to what it thinks is correct. So I have to go back and re-edit content.

I will go with what that site says is in-correct but I have no way to check with IE since their is no longer a valid Mac version.

ok, i checked the page and found myself to be inept at finding where the <head> tag error is. If someone can point me to the right file I would appreciate it. I can fix the small issues such as spaces in embeded players with ease.

    Thanks again

Ok, I think I found the issue. It appears that when you upload the theme as it comes with DreamHost’s WordPress package there is an error in header.php for the theme PhoenixBlue v0.1

The line <?php wp_head(); ?> appears before <head profile…> when it should be right before </head>

If someone could double check and at least make sure the error in IE isnt happening I would appreciate it. I ended up having to reinstall the entire theme and edit it last night.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction Whooami!!

well i am pretty sure i fixed the <head> problem, but the errors that the site you recommended me to arent legitimate when i got to edit the content.

same error but different reason i suppose.
