• Hi – I must admit I haven’t checked my site for a while, but did this weekend..

    brettstark.com

It is dead/white screen and looking at ftp, wp-content is empty other than an uploads folder. I don’t know if I was hacked or what. But my most recent backups unfortunately backed up the site in this condition. So, I have no ‘good’ backup.

I think the database is OK.

Is there any way I can simply install wordpress back over the site and have it ‘work’ or not?
Can I simply save the wp-config file (which i have) and then –
    1. delete all wp looking files
2 re-install wp – using database details in the wp-config file

    that’s it?

    thanks,
    Brett

  • Hi Brett,

Yeah you can just upload new WordPress via FTP or c panel, just change database details from wp-config file. try to login into admin if still you have white death of screen then just deactivate all plugins via admin or just rename plugin folder using FTP and then check. if its works fine then rename plugin folder and check.

    Thanks

Thanks but that did not work for some reason. I guess I might have to start again.
