 * We are having an issue with the message ‘critical error on web site.’ The problem
is we cannot get into the site as site adminstrator. This site belongs to North
Central College’s student media. The site admin left the college and we need
to remove her and give access to the current adviser (me) Is there a way we can
do that so we can get our site up and running? If we can see the console log,
our web person can probably fix it. But the console log is sent to the site administrator
and since she no longer has access, we cannot fix the site. We are hosted through
Bluehost if that helps. Please advise.
 * The page I need help with: _[[log in](https://login.wordpress.org/?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.org%2Fsupport%2Ftopic%2Fsite-admin-issues%2F%3Foutput_format%3Dmd&locale=en_US)
   to see the link]_

 * Critical Error:
 * Errors like this are logged. Check the error log on your server. If you can’t
find the log, please contact your host. Meantime, enable wp_debug and wp_debug_log
and after an error, look at wp-content/debug.log to see if anything gets logged
   there. [https://wordpress.org/support/article/debugging-in-wordpress/](https://wordpress.org/support/article/debugging-in-wordpress/)
 * You can also try disabling plugin/theme:
    – [manually resetting your plugins](https://wordpress.org/support/article/faq-troubleshooting/#how-to-deactivate-all-plugins-when-not-able-to-access-the-administrative-menus)(
no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one
individually until you find the cause. – If that does not resolve the issue,
access your server via [SFTP or FTP](https://wordpress.org/support/article/ftp-clients/),
or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, navigate to `/wp-content/
themes/` and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force
the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (
theme functions can interfere like plugins).`
