[Resolved] Sinking Sidebar in IE (modified default template in v1.5)

  • I’m using a slightly modified version of the default template in v1.5, but my sidebar sinks below all of my posts, and only when viewed in IE. Any thoughts?

  • Whatever div contains your sidebar try positioning it absolute around 550 or so px left and 200 or so from top so it sits below your header. BTW I like your favicon.

My guess: your div that contains the posts has class=narrowcolumn. That class is floated to the left. Most of the time the problem you describe when floating divs is because the main content and menu overlap. So one of the two needs to be smaller, or the padding, margin etc needs to be lowered.
Ofcourse you can test easily whether it is too wide by setting the width very small so you’re sure that with that width they don’t overlap. If they display side by side then it’s a width/padding/margin issue.

It’s not a CSS issue. I just replaced my CSS with the CSS from http://polyhedra.macmanx.com/ (which does work), and there was no change. I’ll take a look at the code now.

Fixed both problems. The sidebar problem was related to my StatCounter code, so I just moved it to the footer. The off-center body was related to an extra margin value given to the header in the new default (kubrick) WP v1.5 theme. Thanks for replying, and Dawg, thanks for the compliment.
