Support » Fixing WordPress » Single page website – Don't want sidebar or comments

  • I am developing a single page website in 3.5.1 using Twenty Twelve theme, essentially a single page to capture opt-ins for GetResponse. I don’t want the sidebar. What is my best way to get ride of the sidebar and prevent comments? If possible I’d also like to get rid of the Search function.

    – you disable comments in Dashboard.
    – You can remove refrence to <?php get_sidebar(); ?> from the theme’s template.

    I don’t want the sidebar

    Template exists for this:

The 2012 theme for WordPress is a fully responsive theme that looks great on any device. Features include a front page template with its own widgets, an optional display font, styling for post formats on both index and single views, and an optional no-sidebar page template. Make it yours with a custom menu, header image, and background.

    Twenty Twelve

    prevent comments

    Prevent Comments:
    Admin Dashboard>Settings>Discussion>Default article settings>uncheck all>Save Changes

Remove from existing Page (if created prior to last step, this is a post based option record kept in db):
    Admin dashboard>Pages>All Pages>Hover Page Title>Quick Edit>Uncheck ‘Allow Comments’.

get rid of the Search function

Disable search: Do you just desire to remove the search box?
