I recently changed the price of a product, from $700 to $200. I also added it to a category called “Sale.” This is a unique product, and only one was available. Someone ordered the product, and I received confirmations, including that the item was now out of stock. All of which is correct. Then the next day, I received an order for the SAME unique, one-of-a-kind product, for the earlier ($700) price. This should not have happened. Once the item was out of stock, it should not have been able to be ordered again — and certainly not at the older, higher price. Why did this happen? First I thought it might be a caching problem (I am using W3 Total Cache) but 24 hours elapsed between the product being ordered the first time and the second time.

  • You have the Manage Stock (Yes) and Allow Backorders (No) set properly?

Yes, thank you. I did find the problem, though. I had entered the product twice, but with different stock numbers. So, it was possible to order it twice. This also explains the different pricing. “Operator error,” as they say.

Lol – that was going to be my next suggestion!
