# Simplified interface and options.

 * I want to simplify the available options and interface for registered users, 
   who as ‘Author’ should be able to:
    Update their profile. Add new posts, and 
   edit their existing ones. Edit their comments.
 * The standard interface is confusing, and by listing options which aren’t available(
   example: lists all posts, not just their own) likely to be frustrating.
 * I simplified with WPLite, but there’s still too much.
 * Examples:
    ‘Manage’ and ‘comments’ still show all posts. I want ‘Publish status’
   to not include ‘pending review’. And ‘Keep this post private’ to not be available.
 * Suggestions appreciated. Please and thanks, etc.

 * WordPress 2.7 will be out in a couple of weeks, with [a new control panel](http://wordpress.org/development/2008/10/the-visual-design-of-27/)
   that might be easier for your Authors to use.
 * It is quite different then the current version, so I wouldn’t beat yourself up
   trying to make minor changes that probably won’t stick after you upgrade.
 * But if you do want such fine grained control over the interface, you’ll have 
   to create a custom admin theme.
