    Hi David,

    I love this plugin – however I am stuck on version 1.52.

    The current version 1.8x does not recognize the specification a mods of the shortcode. For instance the orderby still sorts by “Title” instead of the specified “menu_order”. Why?

    My theme is responsive and up to date version.

    Is there a plan to fix this in the future?

    Tahnks,

    Kevin

    Can you show me the shortcode you are using that doesn’t work in v1.86?

    HI David,

    It is not the shortcode that is the problem, it is the CSS coding. Here is what does not under 1.8x:

    <style TYPE=”text/css”>
    h2 {
    color: #000000 !important;
    font-weight: bold !important;
    }
    h5 {
    color: #000000 !important;
    font-family: ‘Open Sans’;
    font-style: normal;
    position: absolute;
    margin-top: -5%;
    }
    </style>
    <h5>[simple-sitemap]</h5>

    I am guessing that the shortcode changed between 1.5 and 1.8x

    It correctly renders now under 1.5x – preview here:

    David,

    I got the CSS changed now and the Sitemap displays as it should. (v. 1.8.x) The difference I notice over (V. 1.5x) is that my Posts no longer carry a Date posted stamp on them. This would be nice to have for visitors who want to know when the Post was published! Of course there is not much need for this feature on menu times which are ordered differently and don’t required a time/date stamp. Is there a feature of the SS that handles this? You can see my sitemap here: http://www.designwerks.net/sitemap/

    Thank you for your prompt reply!

    Hi Kevin,

    Glad you got the CSS to render as you wanted. I can’t honestly remember too much about the changes between v1.5 and 1.8.x but I recall something about trying to remove opinionated CSS from the plugin to allow the sitemap to take on styles from the currently active theme to blend in better.

    It’s been a while since I took a serious look at the plugin code and there have been lot’s of feedback over the last couple of years about how people use the plugin. It’s become clear that there needs to be much more flexibility in how items under each post type are outputted. I have a couple ideas on this but will most likely involve a complete rewrite of the plugin to do this.

    Not sure when this will happen but it’s definitely on my to do list.

    Hi David,

    Thansks for your message.

    I was hoping you would offer me guidance on the date stamp ob posts within the Sitemap. It was an enabled feature within version 1.5x but NOT under 1.8x version.

    Was this feature eliminated or can I enable it. My visitors would enjoy knowing when the post was published! (please refer to these screenshot links)

    The only way to do that right now would be to revert to the previous version.

    As I mentioned, future versions will likely have support for displaying in any way you wish.

    Hi David,

    Thank you for your prompt reply. I have reverted back to version 1.52 of SS and my old CSS which is compatible.

    What is the newest version which still supports the Post/date functionality? Is this plugin available for a download. I read one user had a version 1.6x. However, I don;t see any list of files available except for the current 1.8x version.

    I will play with the current CSS to get the 2 columns working. Thanks for your help on this!

    Hi David,

    I got my CSS tweaked exactly as I want it. You can preview the Sitemap page here: http://www.designwerks.net/sitemap/

    I can post my CSS here if you think it will help others – BTW I am still using the SS version 1.52.

    I reverted because it still supports the Post/date and sorting functions I like. The 1.8x and newer versions I don’t think support this anymore. I would like to see those features return to the current plugin version(s).

    Let me know if any of my efforts are of interest to you or others users of this great plugin!

    Thanks for the feedback. I’ll be looking at adding more formatting features in the near future.

    Thanks for the update – I look forward to the new features added back to SS!
