• Hey guys!

    I’ve been using the plugins “Simple Twitter Connect” and “Simple Facebook Connect” for a couple of months now. I like them because they’re allowing people to comment using their facebook or twitter accounts and don’t create new users in the blogs database, just comments. Unfortunately they only support twitter and facebook, commenting using your google, openid or other accounts is not possible.

    While I tried out several plugins today I always had to see, that all the plugins providing these services, also always create separate user accounts in my wordpress installation.

    So I’m asking the community: Are there plugins like “Simple Twitter and Simple Facebook Connect” that don’t create registered users while logging in and also support using a google, openid or other accounts to connect? Is there may be a plugin that provides commenting using a variety of accounts like rpx oder social connect without creating new users? That’d be great!

    Thank you in advance,
    greetings form germany!

    I forgot: May be Otto has something like this already in planning? Does anybody know something about that?

    I have made some minor plugins for an eventual Simple Google Connect, but nothing cohesive.

    No plans for OpenID. Frankly, I don’t like OpenID. It’s a badly designed system that doesn’t work very well.

    Ridjay,

    I have tried both the “Simple Twitter Connect” and “Simple Facebook Connect” plugins . Later I have deactivated them because they won’t allow the new registrations directly.

    One need to connect with the existing local account from admin panel and there is no way to accept the new registrations directly from front end. I don’t know if I am missing something.

    Thank you!

    Hi Otto, do you still have plans for Simple Google Connect?

    Would be a GREAT addition to the two other Simple Connect plugins 🙂

    The ‘Friendconnect login’ plugin could do the trick, but it requires some manual edit and the logout process from Google is independent from the site. The result is that the plugin is not as ‘simple’ and straightforward as the two released by Otto.
    Moreover, it looks slightly different and it would need some adjustments to get full UI coherence.
    Anyway…

    @asshu:
    the sfc-register extension should allow new registrations from Facebook (not possible with Twitter at the moment, since it does not let your blog catch the user’s email)…

    @otto:
    am i wrong?
    have you ever heard of that Friendconnect plugin or tried to improve and implement it with the awesome look and feel of your plugins?
