*simple* new post email notification

    I am looking for a simple plugin for new post email notification – something that will not not require my users to be shown a complicated set of options.

    I tried MailPress, subscribe2 and PostNotification. All are great, but they add to many options for my users.

    Ideally, all the users will see is one additional checkbox on their profile page and maybe the registration form, allowing them to get email notification of new posts. I don’t want them to be shown a choice of categories, formats, posting schedules, and so on.

    Is there any plugin like that?

    Thanks, this could be exactly what I’m after if it would only show these checkboxes to normal subscribers and not just to admins and editors.

    Also, it seems to send all the emails in a single loop, and that may not scale well if the number of subscribers becomes large.

    Hi there,

    The Email Alerts plugin was originally commissioned to help a small number of administrators administer a group blog… this is why it’s designed as it is. The plugin allows an administrator to choose what they want to receive alerts about (comments needing moderation, comments being published and/or posts being published).

    Hope this clarifies things a bit. I’m happy to extend the plugin, but (and here’s the ugly bit) this is how I make my living so unless someone or some organisation sponsors me to do the work it will likely not get a high priority. Sorry. If you want to get in touch about this, please do.

    I have added the email-alerts. I too am developing a group blog and I want a couple of us to be alerted as to when new comments need moderation as Simon mentions above. However, email-alerts is not doing this latter part. It does do the other parts.

    Now I do have subscribe2 also because I want to add a subscriber list to send out certain emails with people having to register. Not sure if there is a conflict here. Before I started deactivating things, I thought I would post here first.
