Simple login to leave comment on my web-site (4 posts)

    Hi, I'd like to add the restriction that someone needs to log in to my web-site in order to leave a comment or suggestion, but only a simple login such as the one for the WordPress forum on this very page. The plugins I have found, which doesn't mean all of them, since I apparently don't find all the good ones, seems to log people into my dashboard. It leaves them with a very low capability, of course, but it's confusing, I'm sure.

    Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    thanks so much for any help,

    P.S. Oh, my test site is: http://www.alec-destroys-democracy.org

    You can add a login form to your theme wherever you want with the following code:

    if ( ! is_user_logged_in() ) {
    	wp_login_form( array( 'echo' => false ) );
    } ?>

    wp_login_form has lots of configurable options, so check it out in the codex.

    Hey, Max,

    Thanks for your help. I'm not quite as much of a novice as I was, but still waaaaay far away from a designer; so nothing is yet 2nd nature, ya know?

    Thanks again. I'll check the options.

    The other thing to bear in mind, is that in order for them to login, they must be registered users on your site, so if you want to avoid the WordPress looking registration pages, you will have to build custom ones that match your theme too ...

    Fortunately there are a whole bunch of tutorials out there on how to do this if you google...
