Simple Layout problems

So I have been playing around with Elementor for about a week now using the most update pro version without any of the addons.

I am simply trying to shrink the size of my top image so it isn’t so overwhelming and get rid of that space between the first and second section

I have been binge watching lots of tutorials but even the ones from a few months ago see to have everything placed differently. If anyone can have some general advice on this issue it would be greatly appreciated. And if there are any tutorials that are current to the current versions I would appreciate that as well because all the ones I am finding on youtube seem to be outdated, or I am just missing something.
