• I’m new to WordPress and would like to run my entire site using it however only plan to have the front page be the blog page and then another page for archives and the rest would be run off templates that probably only got updated once in awhile. I’m confused about which directory to install WordPress into, if i should just do it in the root directory or in mydomain.com/blog or something. What’s the typical setup here?

  • I’m new to WordPress – that’s not a problem, everybody used to be one day… However, we tried first to learn about the tool we were going to use before making assumptions and theories 🙂

    This doesn’t make much sense.
My advice would be: install it in a folder, play with it, learn it and then decide what you want.
(You can always move it up from folder to root, from root to folder etc.)
Good place to start in the online manual: Getting_Started_with_WordPress
