# Simple .htaccess question

 * I have my blog set up at [http://www.GolfBettingGuide.com/blog](http://www.GolfBettingGuide.com/blog).
 * Do I need a .htaccess file in the blog directory or can I just use the existing
   one at GolfBettingGuide.com (ie the root directory) ?
 * Also is there a way for wp to automatically write to the .htaccess file ?
 * Many thanks.

 * The .htaccess files are specific to each directory, so you would need one inside/
   blog.
 * Go to Options->Permalink to have WP generate one specific to WP and it’s structure.
