Update – seems it worked correctly for all three users up to 2 days ago. Since then, upgraded WP to 4.1 – could that be the problem?
OK, well I might be wasting everyone’s time – seems it works fine when the Editors actually change a page or post something, but the Editor logs don’t show Logins while the Admins log does. Pär, is this intended action please?
Yes, that’s actually intended. The idea is that users with different roles see different things. Admins see everything, including logins, plugin updates, and so on, while other users, like editors, only see what’s relevant to them, like page edits. Since only admins can add and see all users of the system, then only they may see when people login or logout and so on.
I think it’s a pretty awesome feature, but my needs may be different than others, so please let me know if this approach has faults and so on!
Thank you for your response – especially over Christmas! Having read other entries in the forums, I understand this explanation is wholly consistent with your overall approach and it makes great sense – now it’s about setting my users’ expectations and as Admins I hadn’t fully realised how the more restricted permissions set for Editors really look. All part of my learning experience! Marking this as resolved.
