Simple email subscription

Let’s say I want someone to be able to subscribe to be notified by email when there’s a new post. What are good plugins for that?

I’m taking a look at Subscribe2, but I’m worried the subscribe process is too elaborate. I don’t need users that can subscribe, I just need subscribers. (If the distinction makes sense.)

And there’s a plugin called “Email Notification” that sounds promising but hasn’t been updated since 2005.

Ideally, there’s a text field in the sidebar, where they can submit their email. They get an email for confirmation and a link to unsubscribe again.
