Simple Blog help needed

    Hey guys, i want to use a blog on my site, installed wordpress and like what i have seen so far. But i wish to use it differently instead of having this default type blog setup.

    All i want is for the blog to have one single category, the current blog entry to appear on my front page of my site and the rest be on another archive tab for my site.

    Is this kinda thing possible with wordpress or would i be best using something else, as obviously i’m not using everything wordpress has to offer. Its admin features etc make wordpress very nice at what it does though!

    You can do (almost) anything with WP, and most definitely what you’ve described.
    For displaying a post on your “main” website – you can read about The_Loop and related articles.
    You can also try this tutorial.

    Okay, i’ve done exactly what i want for my front page, its simple enough, chosen the category and the amount of posts i wish it to show.

    Now i want to create an archive page, that shows five previous entree’s and gives a link to a following page with five more, or rather replace the current five within the div they are in.

    How can i go about that? i’ve found many tutorials and stuff for showing x amount of posts, but not x then next amount of x, and previous, etc

    If you have set in Options > Reading “Show at most:” to 5 posts – WP will automatically do what you want.

    Yea i understand that, but i dont want to use the theme for wordpress itself, want to have an “archive” page, and that hold say 5 posts, and have links at the bottom to more, i guess that would mean custom themeing, i’ll have a look at some tutorials i’ve found
