Support » Plugin: MC4WP: Mailchimp for WordPress » How do we get the name of the customer at checkout

When the user is checking out, they tick the box to subscribe to the newsletter. However, the name is not sent to MailChimp, only the email address. How can we ensure that the name is sent as well?

In the error log, we see this when we send the form with NAAM field required:

[2017-07-13 18:33:25] ERROR: WooCommerce Checkout > MailChimp API Error: Bad Request. Your merge fields were invalid.
    – NAAM : Please enter a value

Things only start working when we make the NAAM field not required. How do we tell this plugin to accept the Name field at checkout and ignore the NAAM field which is only used on the homepage?

This is our staging site: https://www.staging1.prikkabelled.nl/

    Hey Michael,

Our plugin can only send data to MailChimp which MailChimp accepts. To get data from the WooCommerce field and then to modify it before sending to MailChimp, you will need additional custom code which is beyond the scope of our support.

I would recommend changing the name of your field in your MailChimp list to general names such as “FNAME”, “LNAME”, etc.

I hope that answers your query. Let us know if you have any further questions.

Hi Harish, who can supply me with a good code to be able to pass the “billing_first_name”, “billing_last_name” to “NAAM” at the checkout page?

As you can see on the home page, the filed there is called “NAAM”.

Also, I would like to include the mailing frequency at the checkout page. This would be selected via radio button by the customer.

    Hello Michael,

Any WordPress developer should be able to assist you with the billing fields. I would recommend contacting people on work network sites.

Regarding the mailing frequency, can you please explain what you mean by it?
