I would like to add Sign in with Google functionality to my WooCommerce website.

If I add Sign in with Google via SiteKit,

    • will the Google Login button appear on WooCommerce customer login, customer account, cart and checkout pages?
    • does the plugin check whether the user already exists (perhaps previously they created an account in my site) and behave appropriately?
    • can the plugin assign the role of Customer to any new user that logs in with Google?

Hi there @sooskriszta, thanks for your questions on Sign in with Google in Site Kit. Please see the answers below:

    1. When using Sign in with Google through Site Kit, a login button will appear on standard WordPress login pages, including WooCommerce login pages. You can also choose to place this button anywhere on your site using the Sign in with Google block or the dedicated shortcode [site_kit_sign_in_with_google].
    2. Yes, the plugin will check if the user already exists. If users have signed into your website before, using Sign in with Google, the button presented to users will include their email address and profile picture. If you allow new users to register on your site, using the standard WordPress Anyone can register setting (Settings > General > Membership > Anyone can register), Sign in with Google can be used for users to register.
    3. This is defined by your WordPress general settings. Subscribers is the default WordPress role but this can be changed. This is what Site Kit will use by default.

I hope this helps to answer the questions you have. If there’s anything else I can help with then please let me know and please read through our Sign in with Google guide for more information on this feature.

Thanks, that is helpful. Quick follow-up on #2. If a user has created an account on my site in the past (not signed in via Google) and they click Sign in with Google button (for the first time), the plugin will recognize that and behave appropriately, correct?
